The differences between PTFE, PFA, FEP and ETFE

PTFE pipes are polytetrafluoroethylene (also known as PTEF), PFA pipes are copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkoxy vinyl ether (also known as perfluoroalkylates), FEP fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer (also known as F46, which is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene), and ETFE ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene (commonly known as polyvinyl fluoride). The heat resistance of PTFE, from high to low, is above 260℃. PFA 260℃ FEP 200℃ ETFE 150℃

Teflon is classified into PTFE, FEP, PFA and ETFE.

Basic types: Teflon PTFE: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) non-stick coating, which can be used continuously at 260℃, with a maximum operating temperature of 290-300℃. It has an extremely low coefficient of friction, good wear resistance and excellent chemical stability. 

Teflon FEP: The FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer) non-stick coating melts during baking and forms a pore-free film. It has excellent chemical stability and outstanding non-stick performance. The maximum operating temperature is 200 °C.

Teflon PFA: PFA (perfluoroalkylated) non-stick coatings melt during baking and form a pore-free film, just like FEP. The advantages of PFA are that it has a relatively high continuous service temperature of 260℃ and stronger toughness. It is particularly suitable for use in the fields of anti-adhesion and chemical resistance under high-temperature conditions. 

Teflon ETFE: ETFE is a copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. It is the toughest fluoropolymer, capable of forming highly durable coatings with excellent chemical resistance and can operate continuously at 150°C.
